In order to mine a cryptocurrency and update its blockchain, it is necessary to calculate the hash of a new block. As competition grows, miners are required to generate more and more hashes per second in order to solve the math problem before other competitors and gain the reward. Therefore the hash rate is the measure of miner’s performance. It indicates the speed at which a miner solves the code of any given cryptocurrency, like Bitcoin. It is usually measured in hash per second or h/s.
