China and Russia are leveraging Bitcoin as a way to avoid US sanctions. Chinese government hackers are explicitly targeting crypto companies in France, India, Italy, Japan, Myanmar, the Netherlands, Singapore, South Korea, South Africa, Switzerland, Thailand, Turkey, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Hong Kong.
In the meantime, law enforcement efforts are stepping up in the US, targeting ICO’s frauds and violations. 130 new investigations have started since the beginning of 2019.

CoinTelegraphFireEye, a primary US cybersecurity company, states that Chinese state hackers are attacking cryptocurrency enterprises. They target industries aligned with China’s Five-Year economic development plans. They include healthcare, high technology, media, pharmaceuticals, retail, software, telecommunications, travel services, education, video games, and cryptocurrencies. Countries under attack include the USA, France, India, Italy, Japan, Myanmar, the Netherlands, Singapore, South Korea, South Africa, Switzerland, Thailand, Turkey, the UK, and Hong Kong.

NASAA Continues Crypto Crackdown with 130 New Cases in 2019
Finance MagnatesThe North Americas Securities Administrators Association (NASAA) has opened more than 130 new cryptocurrency-related investigations. Since the beginning of 2019 it has already taken 35 law enforcement actions.They are part of a coordinated regulatory initiative called Operation Cryptosweep. NASAA’s focus is on securities fraud, but they are also finding failure to register a product before it was offered to investors.
